"They lie about marijuana. Tell you pot-smoking makes you unmotivated. Lie! When you're high, you can do everything you normally do, just as well. You just realize that it's not worth the fucking effort. There is a difference" - Bill Hicks

Thats kind of you to say, thanks so much!

It would make a good lining for a more subtle effect :)
A girl once asked if I had fabric so she could make a prom dress from it!

It's so sad Bill Hicks died, I don't have many idols or heroes to look up to but he was one of them, a great inspiration and a total one off :)

Thanks again :meow:

Love it!

Just readin' through the comments here and yes a fabric print would work well with this.
I used to silk-screen print for years and yes, some of the equipment can be expensive. If this was gonna be printed though I would use water based inks as these soak into the material and practically "dye" it. It would work really well and if I ever get back to printing I'll shout ya up and maybe sort something out:)

Onto Amsterdamage!!!
Yea top city..I was lucky enough to live 45mins away near Utrecht, another beautiful city;they call Utrecht "Old Amsterdam" 'coz that used to be the place to be.

Amsterdam used to be crawling with junkies and hustlers when I was over there,so the powers that be had a big clean-up,closing many coffeeshops and reducing the trade hours of the headshops:thumbsdown:

But I have to say it feels a LOT safer there now:thumbsup:

The tobacco ban is generally ignored by the bars/coffeeshops,most saying you can uce it for joints but don't leave it lying around on the table for all to see!
The Dutch have a saying that translates as "looking through open fingers" much like turning a blind eye.

Lastly(promise!) the flatness of the country did something to my head I reckon..fields are very rectangular and regular, train lines, power lines all run alongside each other, canals are very grid-like..I think this is why they tolerate soft drugs,to give your head a rest from such regularity!!
Wish I was still there:peace:

i would LOVE to see this as a fabric print. It would actually motivate me to finish a dress - perfect for 420.

Thanks, I wish I could make it so!!!

I'd love to see it made into a dress, that would be awesome :)

I have looked into fabric printing, but it seems both complex and expensive.

It annoys me that I have to concentrate on more 'commercial' designs, where as clearly there is a market for these more 'risky' designs, I'd like to see it be used in a mainstream way, but because the government are so bloody stupid and have duped most of the nation into thinking weed is somehow more dangerous than alcohol. Therefore the design is much less marketable because people are afraid to be associated with 'drug references' Maybe I just haven't found the right place for my designs yet :)

Anyway my dress making skills aren't great, but perhaps in the future we could collaborate and make one

Risky is always marketable if it appeals to a large enough crowd and weed definately does, especially here in Canada. I see weed-print hoodies now and then downtown or on the bus. I work in an area in Toronto where there's a weed cafe (BYO) and pretty much every day I'll smell someone smoking publicly walking to and from, sometimes we pass each other on the street. But the market is there, you could silkscreen small batches to use for small things and sell it online. Smaller and cheaper things will go fast and plenty because people have a tendency to make small purchases because "it's only $4!" that rack up. Full clothing pieces might not go so easily considering its broadcasting dope, unless it's around 420 or the Freedom march, but you could make the print subtler with more black and use a fabric printer for the big pieces and that could help with that.

That's the kind of wild and wreckless talk that makes me want to do silly things, like abandon all responsibility and fly straight to Canada! ha ha

Ive never been , but have always wanted to. Amsterdam's good because you can smoke in public, without it having to be seen as something terrible, That BYO cafe you talked about, do you mean Bring your own? I didn't realise it was that relaxed in Canada :)

I wanted to do my Art degree in Canada, but sadly too expensive. Anyway thanks for the advice and ideas , Much appreciated :)

Art school is pretty cheap here actually, I mean if I could afford schooling in the UK I would, it's probably better and I'd like to travel. And you're lucky Amsterdam's a fairly short trip away, I mean we've got a couple of the bring-your-own-weed cafes in the city and throughout Canada (esp Vancouver/B.C.) but you just end up sitting there baked surrounded by strangers in a tiny dim room, and the atmosphere just isn't right... Then you have to leave at some point (supposed to be max. 1hr) and you have to deal with being stoned in public when it's still illegal. so if you've already been to Amsterdam there's no sense getting excited over Canada...

It seems to be much more expensive if your a foreign, so for me to study in Canada I would have to pay for it all myself, where as here in England, I get most of it paid for, though one day will have to pay it all back, only after I start earning more that 16,00 a year, and then it's at low rate. It's not the best system but Im lucky to get that I think, If you were to study here, you would be charged international fees and would be entitled to no help. So it's al swings and roundabouts I guess.

That BYO places sound a bit depressing, as you said not worth getting excited over!

Its been at least 3 or 4 years since I last went to Amsterdam, since then I beleive there has been the tobacco ban, so that's annoying, and also they have really changed there policies and you can't even buy fresh mushrooms there anymore. Apparently a lot of the dutch are leaving because they have this conservative government who are just ruining it there , I think there is a lot going to Portugal, spain etc.

I used to grow my own but thats not possible right now for me, so I can't wait to finish my degree, and get over to Europe for some proper fun :)

Any university is going to hold preference for citizens of it's country or province, which is a shame. I see the economic benefit for local economies but it ends up holding a lot of us back who want to travel or seek higher education, as again, art schools in the US or UK are much better than Canada...

I could see a lot of people leaving for portugal, i'd still want to see Amsterdam for the kitsch anyway. You're probably not going to find as much dope-hype in Portugal since they only changed the law in 2005.

I'd love to grow my own but its not an option for me either, though my dad made a poor attempt in the backyard apparently last summer and plans to do it again... Well see what happens there, but weed is my main expense and if I could cut that out I could fly to Amsterdam in a matter of months...

I know what your saying, Id give me kidney to be there right now.
Even without the weed the Netherlands are lovely.

Silent windmills silhouette the tulip filled fields,
everything is flat so you can see far and wide but
the wild streak of righteous freedom makes it far from horizontal.

Sitting outside a coffeeshop, a little table and something to wet
your mouth, plenty of fine smelling herbs and that
feeling of excitement from the mushrooms in your tummy,
playing cards and watching the people and feeling the flow,
smiling and thinking and just being.

There are parrots flying in the park and people just relaxing,
the canals all look the same but some are bigger
and sometimes they have houseboats all along the sides.
Then thing starts to get hazy and you find yourself in some
random weed shop..

smoking your way into more chaos....

Shit, what I am doing in England!

Theres always a ways and means to achieve what you want,
would you like to go there for a while of just a few weeks?

Maybe you could work whilst you are there to fund it

They've been making synthetic weed for a long time, but it's just getting popular now. It's called K2. Hope that stuff does get banned by the government!

He he yeah it would make awesome king size Rizla. Not sure how I'd go about it, I seem to have been born with an inability to do anything serious...wish manufacturing advice was more assessable. I need to find a rich man in the tobacco industry or something...

Here's a video to watch:

[link]

You being English and much younger than me I'm not sure if you would know who Lawrence Welk is. He was just like this real cornball guy who had this real cornball show that all of us who came of age in the 60s parents' watched.

What's odd is how nobody has any idea about what the song is about.

Thanks for the link , that was funny,Im not sure but i think that guy made have had a false hand, coz that girl seemed to be bouncing about on something, anyway ha ha, I guess i only hear of it because of the film Fear and loathing, when the attorney sings it in the car on the way to vegas, with an ether soaked towel at his feet and a flour shaker full of cocaine,,,so i just associated it with that, thanks for insight x

Lol no, no I wasn't on Shrooms. Ive tried to draw when on shrooms before and it doesnt work out so well, besides I generally have to be outside and not looking at a computer screen. Though i find the visuals I get when i trip really help inspire the art i make.
